Opening/closing the controller
Opening the controllers comes with some caveats that will be discussed here, it is always done at your own risk.
Gasket
The gasket between the base and the lid of the controllers is not considered reusable, when it is required to open a controller make sure to have a replacement gasket on hand. If this instruction is not observed it could lead to improper sealing of the controller and thus potential water/moisture related issues.
Care when opening
It has been observed that controllers can be very difficult to take apart in some cases, take great care when seperating the halves as to not damage the retention springs on the IO modules when it suddenly releases. Try lifting in the length wise direction of the modules so they do not experience sideways force when the lid comes loose.
Closing the controller
Applying the new gasket is best done to the lid:
1. Lay the lid on its back and place the gasket so it covers all the edges and correctly lines up with the holes.
2. Lower the base part with the mainboard/modules upside down onto the lid, keeping an eye on the gasket so it is still covering all the edges.
3. Tighten the 4 bolts, the recommended torque spec for them is 5.5 Nm. Hand tightening has led to loose lids as the gasket sets.
